Keeping Blue-Eyes
These are small, peaceful fish that shine in a well-planted tank with gentle flow. They are happiest in a group, where the males display to each other and colour up. A temperature of 22 to 28 degrees suits them, and while they tolerate a range of water, stable and clean is what matters most. Their small size makes them ideal for nano and community setups, as long as tankmates are not large enough to bully them.
Getting the Best Colour
Male blue-eyes look their best when there is friendly competition. Keep several together and add fine-leaved plants for them to display around, and you will see far more colour and fin-flaring than you would from a lone fish. A varied diet with small live and frozen foods brings out their best condition.
