Description

Apistogramma agassizii "Gold Fire Red" - Fiery Wild-Type Apisto for Experienced Aquascapers

The Gold Fire Red is a striking wild-type variant within the Apistogramma agassizii complex, named for the intense orange-red flush that spreads across the body and fins of mature males against a golden-yellow base. Like other wild-type Apistogrammas, it is noticeably more sensitive to water quality than domestic ram strains, so stable, soft water is a must.

Gold Fire Red Apistos are territorial toward their own kind around a chosen cave but otherwise peaceful, spending most of their time picking through leaf litter and low cover in search of food. Their vivid colouration only fully develops once the fish is settled and stress-free, so a calm, well-established aquarium brings out the best in them.

At N8 Aquatics, our fish are carefully raised and conditioned to ensure healthy stock suited to home aquariums.

  • Maintenance: Regular small water changes to keep parameters stable rather than large, sudden swings

A protein-rich diet brings out this fish's fiery colouration.

  • High-quality micro pellets
  • Frozen bloodworm and daphnia
  • Frozen or live brine shrimp

Compatibility

Best kept with calm, unhurried tankmates that won't crowd it out at feeding time.

Suitable tankmates include:

  • Small tetras
