The Buenos Aires Tetra is one of the largest and hardiest tetras commonly kept, with a shimmering silver-gold body that flashes red through the tail as it swims. It's a fast grower and an active, confident schooler that quickly becomes a focal point in a busy community tank.

This is a rugged, adaptable fish that tolerates a wide range of water conditions, making it a forgiving choice for less experienced keepers. Keep it in a decent-sized group and it settles into a relaxed, outgoing temperament — though its energetic nature and occasional nibbling at soft plants means it's best suited to a hardscape-focused or robust community setup rather than a delicate planted tank.
