The Female Assorted Betta is sold in a mixed colour run, so each fish brings its own individual pattern, though all share the noticeably shorter finnage typical of female bettas compared to the flowing fins of the males.

Females tend to be calmer than males and can sometimes be kept in a supervised group known as a sorority, though they can still spar with one another and should be watched closely if housed together. They remain just as hardy and easy to care for as their male counterparts.

Compatibility

Calmer than males, the Female Betta still appreciates calm tankmates and plenty of cover if housed in a community setting.

• Calm community fish such as small tetras
• Corydoras catfish
• Snails in a well-planted tank
• Avoid fin-nippers

Avoid aggressive or fin-nipping species.
