Gold Balloon Ram Cichlid - Compact, Captive-Bred Balloon-Form Ram

The Gold Balloon Ram is a captive-bred, selectively-shortened balloon form of the ram cichlid, instantly recognisable by its rounded, compact body and bright golden colouration. Being a captive-bred strain, it's considerably more adaptable to a range of water conditions than wild-type rams, making it a great choice for hobbyists wanting ram-like character without the fussiness.

Its unusual body shape doesn't slow it down much — the Gold Balloon Ram remains an active, curious little cichlid that spends its day picking through the substrate and interacting with tankmates. It stays peaceful in a community setting, only showing territorial behaviour when guarding a nest.
