The Gold Ram Cichlid is a captive-bred colour strain of the German Blue Ram, bred for a solid, vibrant golden-yellow body in place of the wild type's blue speckling. As a domestic strain, it is noticeably more adaptable to varying water conditions than its wild-type ancestor, making it a friendlier introduction to ram keeping.

Gold Rams retain all the charm and activity of their wild counterparts — constantly foraging, interacting with tankmates, and displaying with raised fins — while proving considerably more forgiving for hobbyists still building water-management experience.
