The Golden Gourami carries a warm solid golden-orange colouration that brightens any aquarium, especially when set against green planting or dark substrate. Like other standard gourami, it swims with a slow, graceful style, using its long trailing ventral fins to sense its surroundings.

An adaptable and resilient species, the Golden Gourami settles readily into established community conditions. Males can be territorial with one another, so a single male per tank or a well-planted layout with visual breaks is recommended.
