Description

Green Swordtail - The Classic Wild-Type Olive-Green Colouration

The Green Swordtail carries the olive-green base colouration that defines the classic wild-type swordtail, the natural colour form this popular livebearer was first known for.

It's a robust, adaptable fish that handles a broad range of water conditions with ease, and as with other swordtails, males are best kept with two or three females.

At N8 Aquatics, our fish are carefully raised and conditioned to ensure healthy stock suited to home aquariums.

Ideal Habitat and Care

Swordtails appreciate a longer, well-planted 80 L or larger aquarium with open swimming space; because males can spar over females, keep a ratio of one male to two or three females.

  • Maintenance: Weekly partial water changes to maintain stable, clean water

Diet

Swordtails are easy-to-feed omnivores that appreciate a varied diet.

  • High-quality flake or pellet food as a dietary staple
  • Vegetable matter such as blanched zucchini or spirulina flake
  • Occasional frozen or live foods for variety and conditioning

Compatibility

Swordtails are generally peaceful community fish that mix well with a range of similarly sized species.

Suitable tankmates include:

  • Platies
  • Mollies

Avoid aggressive or fin-nipping species.
