The Ivory Mystery Snail wears a pale, almost porcelain-white shell and body that sets it apart from the more common gold and brown mystery snail forms. This soft ivory tone stands out beautifully against dark substrates and green planting, making it a popular choice for aquascapers wanting a subtle splash of contrast rather than a bold colour statement.

Like all mystery snails, the Ivory is a large, hardy and endlessly useful grazer, patrolling glass, decor and substrate for algae and leftover food around the clock. It is unfussy about tankmates, easy to care for, and grows to a good, eye-catching size that makes it a real centrepiece as it matures.

Ideal Habitat and Care

A 40 L or larger aquarium with harder, well-oxygenated water and some open surface access suits this air-breathing grazer well.

Diet

Mystery snails are efficient grazers that will happily clean up algae and leftover food alongside a supplemented diet.

• Algae wafers as a staple
• Blanched vegetables such as zucchini or spinach
• Naturally occurring biofilm grazed from surfaces
• A calcium source such as cuttlebone to help prevent shell pitting

Compatibility

Mystery snails are peaceful, easy-going clean-up crew members that do well in most community set-ups. Avoid copper-based medications, which are toxic to snails, and avoid snail-eating loaches.

Suitable tankmates include:

• Peaceful community fish
• Shrimp
• Other peaceful snails

Avoid aggressive or fin-nipping species.
