Silver Dollar (Metynnis spp.) - Peaceful Schooling Characin for Larger Aquariums
The Silver Dollar (Metynnis spp.) is a disc-shaped, silver-flanked characin named for its striking resemblance to a shimmering coin. Closely related to piranhas but entirely peaceful, it's an active schooling fish that looks its best moving as a group through open water.
Silver Dollars are hardy, easygoing fish that do best in a group of five or more, where their natural schooling instinct keeps them confident and reduces skittishness. They are strong swimmers that appreciate a long tank with open space to move.
At N8 Aquatics, our fish are carefully raised and conditioned to ensure healthy stock suited to home aquariums.
