Description

Sucking Catfish - The Classic Algae-Eating Cleanup Crew Member

The Sucking Catfish is the classic mottled brown/grey algae-eating sucking catfish familiar to generations of aquarium keepers, prized for its tireless grazing on algae-covered glass, rocks and driftwood. Its sucker-like mouth and armoured body make it an easily recognised workhorse of the community tank.

While sold small, this is a genuinely large-growing species that can reach 30 cm or more once fully mature, so a long-term upgrade to a spacious aquarium is a real commitment you should plan for from day one, not an afterthought. It is otherwise a hardy, low-fuss fish that tolerates a wide range of established water conditions.

At N8 Aquatics, our fish are carefully raised and conditioned to ensure healthy stock suited to home aquariums.
